2/10/2011 Extended Forecast

Moderating temperatures begin on Friday. The cold across portions of the country is just unbelievable. Late this evening, hard freeze warnings and freeze warnings go down to the border of Texas and Mexico. Not to mention it snowed in Southern Texas this past week. It has been quite a while, if ever, that I can remember these type of warnings extending down to Brownsville, Texas. Meanwhile, back here in New Jersey, we will easily see low temperatures in the single digits as the guidance has been much colder for tonight than in the previous days. I already see temperatures in most suburbs in the teens. It could be hard to drop to around zero with snow-cover finally beginning to lack in the area.

Friday will be sunny and I don’t see much cloudiness. Temperatures could rise into the middle and upper thirties. A cold front will approach the region on Saturday. Temperatures will really begin to moderate by this point and time and some areas could rise into the upper forties. The front could cause a sprinkle or shower, but the frontal passage is lacking moisture. It will kick the winds up and it could turn windy. Wind gusts up to 40 MPH are possible.

A weak low pressure system will move north of the region later on Sunday into Monday. This will likely increase the clouds and could lead to some rain showers. A cold front will move through the region and temperatures may drop late Monday into Tuesday, but I still expect forties for highs. A large warm up is currently anticipated for later in the week when I believe sixties are likely in parts of New Jersey, with fifties north.

The 60 degree day is beyond the five day forecast.
