2/8/2011 Extended Forecast

The strong winds will subside as the evening progresses. Instead of windy conditions, it will be breezy. The wind will prevent temperatures from falling very quickly tonight. There will also be a few clouds around with a possible snow shower. Temperatures will fall into the teens and with the breezy conditions, wind chill values will be in the single digits. Northwestern New Jersey could have wind chills below zero as the mountains take on more wind and this is also where there would be a chance for single digit low temperatures. There has been some scattered power outages reported today with gusts reported up to 50 MPH.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny, followed by some evening clouds. A storm system will deliver snow to areas south of the Delmarva Peninsula beginning late Wednesday Night into Thursday. The clouds associated with this system will impact Southeastern New Jersey. The North American Model does indicate some snow showers for Cape May County. Otherwise, there could be much less cloudiness in Northwestern and Central New Jersey. If you live north of the Atlantic City Expressway, some sunshine is actually likely on Thursday. An arctic high is helping to block this southern energy from coming northward. This means that while we will be dry due to the high, the position of it will place the core of the cold air right over us. Therefore, highs in the upper twenties are expected.

We begin to warm up rapidly on Friday with highs jumping up into the upper thirties. Saturday and Sunday we should see temperatures in the forties. Valentine’s Day looks to be mild with highs in the fifties in the Central and Southern New Jersey region.
